Increasing efficiency with these great low-income programs

While high-efficiency appliances can save members money in the long run, saving for the initial purchase can be difficult, especially for members struggling to keep up with the increasing costs of gasoline, food and other necessities. To help these members take advantage of the benefits of high-efficiency appliances, Dakota Electric partners with the local CAP Agency to deliver the following services to income eligible members:

Electric Appliance Replacement
Income-eligible members can receive special incentives for replacing old, inefficient refrigerators, clothes washers, window air conditioners and water heaters with new Energy Star® rated models.

Increase efficiencyConservation Visit
Dakota Electric also provides funds to support free energy audits from the CAP Agency. A CAP Agency auditor will make suggestions for reducing energy use and provide an energy conservation kit for qualifying members.

Air-Conditioner Tune-Up
One of the easiest ways to save energy during the summer is to ensure that your air conditioner is running properly. The CAP Agency will assign a contractor to provide income-eligible Dakota Electric members with a full air conditioner tune-up and tips on running their air conditioner more efficiently.

Qualifying members interested in taking advantage of these programs can contact the CAP Agency at 651-322-3500 to request a Dakota Electric Energy Program application.
