Help for homeowners facing foreclosure

If you're having trouble making your mortgage payments, you're not alone. Last year, there were 1,581 sheriff sales in Dakota County and the number is expected to be even greater in 2008. Many homeowners are facing financial difficulties due to a number of factors including adjustable rate mortgages resetting, past use of sub-prime lending products, loss of jobs and unexpected medical expenses.

There is help through the Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) based in Eagan. The CDA's Homeownership Connection services include free mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to homeowners in Dakota County. Trained staff can evaluate your household budget, answer your questions about the foreclosure process and provide referrals to additional resources.
