Affiliations

Like many electric cooperatives, Dakota Electric is small in comparison to investor-owned utilities. However, through affiliations with other organizations, Dakota Electric can provide members with the benefits of a large utility while maintaining the service level of a small, member-owned cooperative.

Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives

Touchstone Energy^® Cooperatives is a national alliance of more than 700 electric cooperatives in 46 states working together to educate cooperative members about electrical safety, energy efficiency and the benefits of cooperative membership.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

NRECA is a national organization dedicated to representing the interests of electric cooperatives. In addition to advocating for cooperatives on energy, operational and rural community issues, NRECA provides educational opportunities and resources for electrical cooperatives.

Minnesota Rural Electric Association (MREA)

MREA advocates for Minnesota electric cooperatives and provides training and resources to help cooperative employees do their jobs more effectively and safely.

Great River Energy

Great River Energy generates electricity and manages more than 4,500 miles of transmission line for 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota, including Dakota Electric. Headquartered in Maple Grove, Minn., Great River Energy is the fifth largest generation and transmission cooperative in the U.S.
