Dakota Electric strives to improve the environmental impact of our organization by reducing waste and using resources as efficiently as possible. Following are a few of the many ways Dakota Electric is doing its part to protect the environment.
Using New Vehicle Technologies
Dakota Electric has purchased vehicles with flex-fuel and hybrid technology in an effort to use emerging technologies to reduce our environmental impact.
Using Energy-Efficient Products and Practices
Many of the products Dakota Electric promotes to members also help Dakota Electric use less energy. For example, we purchase ENERGY STAR® rated computers, close window blinds on warm days and use a geothermal heat pump to heat and cool our offices.
Minimizing Waste
As a Minnesota Waste Wise member, Dakota Electric reduces waste by recycling and reusing as many items as possible. Paper, utility poles, wire, wooden reels, motor oil, tires, cardboard, metal components and batteries are a few of the many items we recycle or reuse.
Supporting Renewable Energy
Dakota Electric not only encourages Great River Energy, our wholesale power supplier, to incorporate renewable energy into their energy portfolio, we also offer programs to help members support renewable energy.
