If you did not receive a check for capital credits and were a member between 1976 and 1979, then please check the Unclaimed Capital Credits List.
For your convenience you may fill out the Unclaimed Payment Requests online form. You may complete this form for yourself or on behalf of another person. We must verify your identity before any payment distributions can be made. Or if you prefer, please e-mail capitalcredits@dakotaelectric.com with your name, address when you were a member, current address and a phone number where you can be reached during the day. Capital Credit Payment The Dakota Electric Board of Directors recently approved a general capital credit retirement of the 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979 capital credit allocations. If these capital credits were earned at a residential electric account they are non-taxable income. If a business was operated from inside the home or the capital credits were earned at a business, a portion of the capital credit refund could be taxable. If you have questions, please contact your tax advisor. When our Board of Directors authorizes future payments, for any of the years you used our service, additional checks will be issued. If you have received a check for a payee that is no longer residing at the address, please re-seal the envelope with the check enclosed, write “Not at this address – Return to Sender” on the front of the envelope, and put it back in the mail. It will be returned to Dakota Electric and our staff will attempt to locate the payee. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please call 651-463-6212 for more information. |
