Dakota Future

Dakota Future is an economic development initiative focused on leadership, vision, workforce and global competitiveness, formed as an outcome of the 2003 Dakota County Economic Summit by the Dakota Workforce Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization. Our purpose is to support the creation and maintenance of a world-class social and economic environment in Dakota County. We intend to market Dakota County as a national location for business development and as an economic growth center for the metropolitan area and the state. In our first year of operation, Dakota Future has made great progress as demonstrated by this list of accomplishments.

Dakota County Workforce Investment Board

The Dakota County Workforce Investment Board (WIB) provides guidance and oversight of Dakota County employment programs. The WIB consists of 23 members (from the public and private sector) appointed by the County Board of Commissioners. Program and services are provided primarily through the WorkForce Centers in Burnsville and West St. Paul. Last year there were more than 45,000 visitors to the WorkForce Center's resource rooms which have computers, fax machines and expert personnel to help individual job searches. More >>

Partners in Progress

Our annual Partners in Progress event offers an excellent opportunity to celebrate growth and development in Dakota County.

Dakota County, its cities, chambers of commerce and other economic development partners have worked together to help the county stand out among others in the region. Dakota County had several achievements to be proud of in 2004. One of those achievements was a study conducted to identify ways to increase efficiency by consolidating certain county and city government services. More >>
