Member Events

Dakota Electric sponsors several member events each year. Check our calendar for specific events dates and times.

Annual Meeting is a chance for member-owners of Dakota Electric to vote for board directors and learn more about their cooperative. Annual Meeting is usually held in April.

Change a Light, Change the World - Each year, Dakota Electric participates in the Change A Light, Change the World program. This year, we hope to inspire 500 Dakota Electric members to take the ENERGY STAR Change A Light Pledge and to save energy and money by changing out at least one incandescent light bulb in their homes for a compact fluorescent light bulb. If our members meet our goal it will save at least 141,000 kWh of energy, $11,407 in energy costs, and prevent 223,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions. Every light changed is a step in the right direction. Take the Pledge now.

GreenTouch is an annual event, held the first Saturday of May, in which cooperative members and employees volunteer at state parks around Minnesota.

Member Appreciation Event at the Minnesota Zoo is a popular event for family members of all ages. The Member Appreciation Event is usually held in July.

Join your fellow co-op members at the Metrodome for a Minnesota Twins game.

Wind Tour
Join us in September for tours to the McNeilus wind farm near Dodge Center, Minn. The wind farm has 56 turbines that generate more than 42 megawatts of electricity. Great River Energy, Dakota Electric's wholesale power supplier, purchases energy from this project. More >>
