As a cooperative, Dakota Electric has a responsibility to be active in the local community and help keep people safe around electricity. A large part of fulfilling this commitment involves bringing programs to school on safety and the environment and providing resources for teachers and parents who home school.

We also provide programs and resources to help adults learn more about how electric industry and staying safe around electricity.

Resources for Teachers

Dakota Electric wants to help local students learn more about electrical safety and energy efficiency. To help achieve this, we provide activity pages in the Teacher Resources section as well as a list of field trip locations, such as local solar panel projects and Great River Energy's headquarters building.

Dakota Electric also provides safety presentations, energy-efficiency presentations and tools, such as energy monitors, that teachers can use to teach students more about electricity. Leaders of scouting groups and other similar organizations are also encouraged to take advantage of these resources.
