Most members use electricity every day without giving much thought to how it arrives at their home. Several steps are needed to create and deliver electricity to your home or business and by the time electricity reaches your home, it has most likely traveled hundreds of miles and visited a couple of substations.

The wind farms and power plants that generate the electricity are the first chain link in providing electricity to members.

Transmission
Once the electricity is generated, transmission lines and bulk transmission substations carry the electricity long distances from the generating source to local service areas, such as the town or neighborhood you live in.

Distribution
Distribution is the final link in the chain and includes both converting high voltage electricity from the transmission system into lower usable voltage and delivering that usable electricity to homes and businesses.
