School of Environmental Studies wind turbine and solar panels

The School of Environmental Studies renewable energy project features a wind turbine, two solar panels and educational information on site. We encourage members to visit the project to learn more about renewable energy.

Dakota County's wind turbine at Schaar's Bluff Trailhead

Located along the Mississippi River bank, Spring Lake Park Reserve is a scenic place to learn more about wind energy. At the Schaar's Bluff Trailhead (located within the park), Dakota County built a wind turbine along with educational signage about wind energy.

The Bakken Library and Museum

The Bakken Library and Museum has workshops, performances and tours with hands-on activities and exhibits to teach elementary, middle school and high school students more about electricity and the history of electricity use.

Great River Energy's headquarters

Great River Energy's headquarters facility is one of the most energy-efficient and sustainable buildings in the country. Groups can schedule guided tours of the building to learn more about the energy-saving technologies and practices used in the building, including on-site wind solar panels and wind turbine, use of daylight and carpet made from fly ash, a coal byproduct.
