Seasonal rates in effect

Dakota Electric's seasonal rates are in effect during June, July and August. Electricity is generally more expensive in summer months when demand is higher, so these seasonal rates reflect wholesale power costs more accurately.

The residential rate during June, July and August is 8.65 cents per kWh. This compares to 7.25 per kWh from September through May. These slightly higher rates combined with higher use could have an impact on your monthly bill.

Now would be a perfect time to join Budget Billing and even out those monthly fluctuations. Also, a large percentage of summer energy use is attributed to air conditioning. Dakota Electric's energy-saving Cycled Air® program can help reduce summer electric bills.

You can check your consumption history before calling to inquire about your bill. Quite often, viewing the monthly bar chart comparing your historical usage provides valuable answers to our members' questions.
