FARMINGTON, Minn. (Oct. 22, 2008) — Dakota Electric Association recently awarded John Berendt, Randolph Township supervisor, the 2008 Township Leader of the Year Award.
Berendt has been the Randolph Township supervisor since 1979. He has worked hard for the township in those 30 years. Berendt has helped develop all ordinances and lead the township as it has grown, adding subdivisions and a new industrial park.
“John has worked extremely hard for the residents,” said Geri Baumgartner, Township clerk. “He has helped keep the township financially sound and has guided it through many challenges and changes.”
Berendt also volunteers with the Dakota County Board of Adjustment and the Cannon Valley Rural Fire Association, which he helped form.
“It came as a complete surprise to me,” Berendt said of the award. “I don’t think I do any more than other township supervisors who have the best interest of their township in mind.”
Dakota Electric established this award in 1996 to recognize township officials in Dakota County who provide exemplary community service and provide strong leadership while serving their local township.
