Board of Directors

A 12-person board of directors, consisting of and elected by members, governs the cooperative.

Dakota Electric’s board of directors act on behalf of the membership to guide operations and future planning for the cooperative. The board of directors has three members from each of its four districts. Directors serve three-year terms and are elected by you, our member-owners. Voting is done at large and all members have the opportunity to vote.

Annual Meeting and Elections

As a member-owned cooperative, annual meetings provide an opportunity for members to hear reports from officers and directors, receive a financial update, ask questions and learn the results of the director elections.

Survey & Ballot Systems, an independent firm, conducts the election voting and will mail a ballot to every Dakota Electric member two weeks prior to the annual meeting. Members can vote by mail or online. Voting instructions will be included with your ballot.
