The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking comments on a proposed regulation called The Greenhouse Gas New Source Performance Standard until June 25.

This standard, if adopted, will require new power plants larger than 25 megawatts to implement significant limits on carbon dioxide emissions. New combined cycle natural gas fired facilities will usually be able to meet the new limits without additional control, but new coal plants would have to install technology to capture 50 percent of the CO2 emissions. This proposed regulation will reduce emissions from new power plants and could increase the cost of power.
