On Tuesday, July 21, Dakota Electric welcomed nearly 6,000 members to the Minnesota Zoo for our annual Member Appreciation Event, an evening dedicated to celebrating the members who make our cooperative special.
This year’s event was a little on the wild side! Members sported “Wild About Our Members” moose antlers while enjoying free admission and a summer night at the zoo. Guests took in the Wings Financial World of Birds Show, explored the Dino Hideout and strolled the scenic Treetop Trail, making plenty of memories along the way.
The fun also came with an incredible show of generosity. Members were encouraged to support local food shelves by bringing non-perishable food items or making a monetary donation. Together, members donated 2,414 pounds of food and more than $1,800 in cash, benefiting The Open Door and 360 Communities.
“It’s always special to see so many of our members come together for an evening of fun while also giving back to the community,” said Ryan Hentges, Dakota Electric’s CEO. “Year after year, their generosity makes a meaningful difference for our neighbors, and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support.”
Since the Member Appreciation Event at the zoo began in 1998, Dakota Electric members have donated an incredible 47,072 pounds of food and $19,726.22 to support local hunger-relief efforts. That’s nearly three decades of members giving back to their community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for another memorable evening. It’s safe to say we’re still wild about our members!
