Member Appreciation Event Draws 6,000+

(FARMINGTON, MN) July 22, 2025On Thursday, July 17, Dakota Electric welcomed thousands of members to the Minnesota Zoo for our annual Member Appreciation Event — an evening dedicated to celebrating and thanking those we serve. More than 6,000 members took part in the festivities, enjoying free admission and a summer night full of adventure and fun.

Guests wandered through fan-favorite exhibits such as the Wings Financial World of Birds Show, explored the action-packed Dino Hideout, and strolled the scenic Treetop Trail, creating lasting memories with family and friends. As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, attendees were encouraged to support local food shelves by bringing non-perishable items or contributing monetary donations. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our members, we collected 2,652 pounds of food and received over $1,400 in cash donations — all of which will go directly to The Open Door and 360 Communities. “Our members continue to impress us with their compassion,” said Ryan Hentges, Dakota Electric’s President and CEO. “These contributions will provide vital resources to families and individuals throughout Dakota County. We’re grateful to everyone who donated.”

Since its inception in 1998, the Member Appreciation Event has helped provide nearly 45,000 pounds of food and $17,500 in support of local hunger relief efforts — a testament to the giving spirit of Dakota Electric’s membership.
