
This Thanksgiving season, Dakota Electric is thankful for the people who power our cooperative, our members. Because you’re not just a customer. You’re an owner, a partner and a vital part of what makes Dakota Electric different.
When you’re a member, your power goes further. It keeps your lights on and fuels programs that save energy, support local causes and give back to the community. Together, we’ve helped members save more than 30 million kilowatt-hours through energy efficiency programs, supported students with scholarships and donated thousands of pounds of food to local shelves.
One more way your cooperative rewards your membership and keeps value close to home is through a unique perk called capital credits. When annual revenue exceeds expenses, Dakota Electric returns the margins to members based on their annual electric bill. Over the past five years, Dakota Electric has worked diligently to accelerate the return of these funds. We’re proud to share that we’ve reached our goal of a 15-year rotation by 2025, allowing members to receive their share even sooner.
