(9:10 p.m., May 2, 2013) — Dakota Electric Association has restored all power outages as of 8:30 p.m. Approximately 1,000 were out of power this morning due to the wet heavy snowstorm that moved through late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

The scattered nature of the outages made repairs slow, but crews were called in early and worked hard on outage restoration. The outages were mainly located in the eastern and southeastern part of the cooperative’s service territory where snow was heaviest. Locations most affected were the areas near Hastings, Miesville, Red Wing, Welch, Castle Rock and surrounding areas.

As a member-owned electric cooperative, Dakota Electric is committed to providing excellent member services and reliability.

“On behalf of our board and employees, I thank our members for their patience,” President and CEO Greg Miller said. “We pride ourselves on our outstanding reliability and work very hard to quickly and safely restore power when unavoidable events cause outages on our system.”
