Dakota Electric Association is hosting a food drive for The Open Door on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hy-Vee on Pilot Knob Ave. in Lakeville.

Dakota Electric will match cash donations and for every pound of food, Dakota Electric will donate $1 to the food shelf.

Those who donate food that day will be entered in a drawing for an electric bike worth $2,400 from Valley Bike and Ski located in Apple Valley. Children can view a bucket truck up close and will receive temporary tattoos and beads.

“Since we haven’t held our Member Appreciation Event for a couple of years where we typically collect food items, we wanted to hold an event so we could help provide food for a local food shelf,” said Jon Beyer, vice president of energy and member services at Dakota Electric. “We appreciate everyone’s generosity, and we hope to see many of you on September 17!”
