Greg Miller, president of Dakota Electric Association, Farmington, MN, received the 2008 Business of the Year Award from the River Heights Chamber of Commerce during the River Heights Chamber’s 105th Annual Meeting at Southview Country Club on February 8th.

The Business of the Year Award acknowledges an organization that has a commitment to the community through its involvement and assistance to community organizations, a commitment to its employees and focus on innovative employee programs, and a commitment to excellence in service, business ethics, friendliness and business operations.

Dakota Electric Association performs magnificently in all six areas.  This company celebrated 70 years of serving their members in 2007 and their reliability is one of the best in the industry. Dakota Electric’s average member typically has power available 99.99 percent of the time. They serve 100,000 members and they see their responsibility as going beyond supplying energy. Dakota Electric Association has taken a leadership role by supporting many community organizations and environmental activities and are focused on conservation and renewable energy.

“We may be an electric company, but our business thrives on relationships,” Miller said. “The Chamber provides us opportunities to connect with our members and learn of ways we can serve the community. We have appreciated the River Heights Chamber, Progress Plus and Dakota Future’s economic development efforts which help grow businesses in Dakota County by advocating for business friendly policy and development and encouraging smart growth and development. We take advantage of opportunities to network and interact with other business representatives through the many programs and activities the Chamber offers.”

Congratulations Dakota Electric Association on a job well done!
